Aww that's sweet, nothing like a bit of cardIovascular exercise to keep them all healthy ! My children like to chase my chickens too. It's nice to see little ones with chickens, I used to be scared of them!

Well said..and you are right I'm sure they don't allow that all the time. Guess I've never been real tolerent of kids.. too wild for me..now animals are sweet and cute...As far as cardiovascular exercise ? ehhh ..nervous chickens waiting to be chased like prey are not keeping them "healthy"

Christ, its not like the little boy was doing it for an hour or more ! Calm down its just a bit of fun and probably makes them more aware when a predator does appear rather than being cotton wooled and fussed over. They are naturally wild animals that have been bred domesticated and chasing them for a few minutes is not doing them any harm unless caught badly.

Once again..very calm. Second "bit of fun" for who? I doubt for the chickens, and because a child chases them I doubt that gives them the thought process to be more aware of predators..My chickens are as you say "fussed' over and are very aware and good at taking cover from any percieved threat. And I never said he was harming or freakin killing them, I just initally agreed with the second poster who said they looked terrified..Again I still feel kids shouldn't chase animals. Period. Not for a minute, a second, it's not cute, funny or sweet. It's scary for the animal and what is the point? How about a ball or toys or something? I know it's not politically correct to not fawn and fuss all over babies and kids but to each his own..Every one has different opinions..It's ok

Relax.

My little 3yr old daughter spends a lot of time with our ducks and chickens, she follows them around, picks them up and strokes them, she also hand feeds, helps with the daily routine and mucks them out with me. I would never stop her from interacting with our flock. Children to like to run around and play, our chickens tolerate the hyperactive for the lovely treats and cuddles she gives them. I don't think that there should be a problem here guys, everyones entitled to there own opinion but i don't think it calls for a vote of right and wrong

WOW.. he's just a little boy. CALM DOWN

..I'm actually always calm, just feel sorry for the birds, never like to see kids chase birds and bother them. Hate when I see it in public at parks or whatever.. It's obvious they want to be left alone. So what if he is a "little boy" what does that have to do with it? I'm sure you all would allow a child to come into your runs and chase your chickens? Really?? and... think it's "sweet" "cute" ? Come on now

I kind of agree. My 2 YO is learning NOT to chase the animals (dogs included). I don't want them to be afraid of her or see her as a preditor. As animal care takers I want them to see us as food and protection. Not to mention it would be bad if she tripped or accidentally steped on them. Teaching children how to treat animals with respect and understanding is a bit more difficult than I anticipated

BUT your son is adorable and is not at fault for his behaviour. Kids just don't understand that what they see as play can be terrifying to animals.

lots of treats and cuddles is nice..

Wow, and I thought that this was supposed to be a nice place. Oh well. I guess to each their own. He catches and loves on them and feeds them meal worms. BUT I guess for the old maid child haters out there it is an evil act for a child to play with and adore his animals. I guess I need to find someplace else to learn about our new hobby. Not that I'll be missed I'm sure. Just to please the haters in here I'm removing the links of my son's happy time before school to the don't have to witness the carnage of a child at play.
