Hi all! I'm looking to add to our flock this year (we lost our beautiful Sophia this winter to cancer) and I need to make certain that I'm only getting girls due to our town ordinance. In comes the research into autosexing breeds. I'm looking at the 55 Flowery and am super confused on the hen color varieties that I am seeing pictures of. There are:
Gold, that appear more brown (obviously)
Silver, which I haven't seen pictures of (I don't think?)
And this random, mostly white bird from Greenfire
Is the whiter bird the silver? Or is that the standard color and the others are newer color variations?
(I stole these images off the web, so if it's yours let me know, sorry)

Any input would be awesome.

Welcome to BYC! :frow

Sorry for your loss. :hugs

So, check out the greenfire website including their pics of the chicks..

https://greenfirefarms.com/55_flowery_hen.html

Image and quote from greenfire farms site..

"As a day-old chick the males are easy to distinguish by the blonde down on the backs of their heads, and as adults the males are largely white while the females are decorated with a beautiful spotted pattern; "

Best I can tell.. males are NOT flowery but white.. both those are mature females in the pics you posted.. per their saddle feathers being rounded. Pointy saddle feathers can start to be seen around 10-12 weeks and usually well obvious like 2nd pic by 16 weeks in most standard (non hen) feathered breeds.

Images of male specific pointy saddle feathers for example, from google..

And the 55 flowery roosters image from GFF..

Where are you getting birds from and how old will they be?

Hope this helps some! :)
