55 Flowery Hen Chicks

I love my chickens... Look into French Black Copper Marans. They lay dark choc looking eggs that taste a bit richer then the norm. And, the Roos and hens are just wonderful. Orpingtons of any color are fabulous as well. La Bresse.. best meat bird around. $$$$ per serving in France. And lay a good amount of eggs. Icelands for free range and a lot of eggs. Landrace and loving..

When I had chickens, the Orpingtons were my favorites for being calm and easy-going. I also had brown Leghorns, and they out laid the Orpingtons 2 to 1. But, they kept flying out of the pen, it was too big to cover easily. I kept them for over 2 years when they started to slow down on laying. Their last molt went on forever, no very many eggs for 30 hens, so they went to the freezer!
Starting over, I want to breed my own replacements and have only one breed, so the interest in the 55's

Just curious, how much do they weigh? Light like a Leghorn, or heavier like an Orpington?

Weight is more like a leghorn... Egg production high as well. Used in Sweden as production chicken. That is what I have read. Mine are just chicks at this time. I'll keep you abreast on there growth...

So you recently bought chicks from GF and you are trying to sell those? Not chicks from your own stock? Whose chickens are the ones in your picture? Those are not chicks.

I bought extras.. just in case they did not make it. All make it.. So I had a few to sell..( All sold now ). Pics of chicks are mine. Adult pics are not... just to show what they like look like full grown.

Thx

I would be interested in how your 55's do as they begin to lay. I did not see pics of chicks, and thought they were adults you were selling. Glad you were successful so quickly! I think that shows the benefit of a popular breed. (I know I could sell all of my parrot's chicks any time I could find her a mate. If anyone is looking for a home for a male African Grey, Dylan is a lonely hen and I would adopt her a compatible mate in a second).;)
