55 Flowery Hen Chicks

Hmmm... I wonder the true cost of raising a chick is..? Incubatoring/electric cost. Brooder cost... Feed cost... per chick. There is a subject for discussion.. ‍♀️
I wasn't trying to start a debate with you, I'm sorry if you got that impression.

No... I'm really wondering the true cost..? ‍♀️ It would be good to know. Have a great night.. Kim
The true cost is what ever you can sell them for in your local area.
Prices differ for each breed in each area.
I can buy a certain breed for one price here in my area and what you get that same breed for in your area could be twice the amount..up or down.
It's all about the local market.

GF is a well know place...just because they can get a certain price doesn't mean anyone that comes along with that breed gets the same price just because they may have some bird that came from them to begin with. Chicken sale just don't work that way...from my experience, a lot of it has been read right here on this site.

Just wondering if you have ever been to Greenfire Farms website..? Please check out their prices on Rare chickens..
I was reading about them on the Greenfire site, how well are they laying for you? I am planning to get some chickens, and was looking at their site. I like the auto-sexing, and I prefer white eggs, so these were very interesting. Quality is well worth the price.

I just bought them as day old chicks and I bought extras just in case. But all arrived healthy and vibrant. Greenfire claims that they are the best layers of extra large eggs they have on there farm. That says a lot to me. And, yes quality has its price. And I like quality!! Have a super great afternoon...

That was what interested me, -- the number of eggs they lay, and that you do not have to wonder if they are male or female. I am not ready to get chickens yet, still looking for a place to move that allows all chickens, male and female. As for the cost to raise a chicken, much depends on the cost of feed in your area, and that depends on if you are trying to get certified organic. The Costco in Prescott sells layer mash for the lowest cost around here. Most Costcos I have ever been in do not carry chicken supplies, but here they do. Makes me want chickens again!
