and put some electric fence up and I'm still working on it. I hate to sound sadistic but I can't wait for him to get zapped!

So very sry for the loss.

The electric poultry fencing works great is a little spendy electric tape works real well but will still need some kind of wire fence up so dogs and prey cant go under the electric fencing.. If you do get zapped its not all that bad we use in our pasture with a battery charger.

I keep looking on Craigs list and get dog panels they use for runs we use the green square plastic netting on top so birds of prey say it
the panels are also great cause can go thru the gate into the pen the panels we get are 6ft high.
They also are great cause you can move them if you want and we have a small divider to put new chicks when ready to be introduced to the flock.

My husband bought a hog panel and cut it with bolt cutters and bent one side up so could pound into the ground NOTHING can dig under it or chew thru it.. I love the panels and even though mine get out to pasture feed about 4 hrs a day.. If we are gone they stay in the pen. Works for us anyway.. We even have one for the goats at their stall and for the turkeys.

I no longer have chickens and I miss having them so often. We had neighborhood dogs scatter our chickens when we did have them. We thought all was lost. But three of them hid out for most of the day and later we found them in the hen house okay. Two of them never came home. Because of this, we had just moved here by the way, but because of dogs we had to give our chicken family to another lady who could give them a home with better protection.

Larry and I are so old now but I so want chickens again. They are so comforting and I miss the healthy eggs. We are gradually putting up a 6' chicken fence and have a real big dog house that we are going to convert into a chicken house on stilts. But I regress and I apologize. I do so hope your chickens come home okay.

I am so sorry for your loss. We have a shelter-adopted dog that was placed in the shelter because he killed a neighbor's chickens. We found out this after we adopted him. So when we built our chicken yard, we used 5 foot high horse fence which we had lined with chicken wire. I was determined that I was not going to lose any of my chickens to my own dog. So far it has worked really really well for us. I sincerely hope you find at least one of your sweet chickens.

When i helped build my coop, we had the bottom half of the walls and door made of soild wood and the other half wire. That way the dogs couldnt see or break in.
