how many hens could I fit in a 5 x 10 coop? It is 6 foot tall too. My current barn has proved unprotectable from coons. I have an empty section in my pigeon loft to use. I have one BO and her EE x game chicks. Would I be better off trading her for a smaller breed?

Let's see you have 50 square feet. Each std bird should have about 4 square feet a piece (maybe more, maybe less, depends on the birds and if they get to leave the coop). So you should be able to fit 12 birds in there.

Four feet per bird in a coop in which they will be released each day (into a run, pasture, free-range.) If going to be confined in this building, then it should be 10 ft per bird, which would give you room for only 5 standard or maybe 8 bantam chickens.

I fit 14 chickens in my 4x8x4h coop and I seem to have more then enough room.
But then I live in SW FL and it's very hot here. My chickens really only roost in the coop. Although I do have 5 laying boxs built into the side of it, but they are not laying yet. My run is attached to the coop and they stay in the run during the day. It's 10x8x8h

I have 4 4" palm trunks ran across about 20" apart

I have about 14 in a 5x8. They have 2 8' long roost bars and windows on each end. They seem ok as long as they get to go out and play.
