5 Rhode Island Red
4 Red Sex-link x Silkie "just for kicks"
Before Lockdown:
Removed 3 Infertile Blue Orpingtons and 1 Infertile RIR
Tossed 1 RSL x Silkie Blood ringed egg
Locked down:
4 RIR's and 3 RSL x Silkie
Hatched:
3 RSLxSilkie (1 sticky chick had to assist)
2 RIR (1 sticky chick had to assist)
Died after lockdown:
2 RIR
5 Chickies hatched out of 12, of which 4 were infertile - My best hatch yet!
Overall percentage: 41% hatch rate
Fertile percentage: 62.5% hatch rate![]()
It doesn't look fertile to me, and without it being fertile it won't make a chick. By day 6 you should see a black dot and ALOT of blood veins. We are completely new to incubating and have been candling our eggs and We are now at day 6 and we can't see anything I've cracked one of the eggs open (see pictures) could anybody tell us we're we are going wrong these are pictures of our eggs before incubation.

I love pictures! so yes please. Are we supposed to post a picture of our chicks for the official records?
I think it is a rooster / fertility issue. If not the rooster maybe the hens have feathers in the way that you can trim.We are completely new to incubating and have been candling our eggs and We are now at day 6 and we can't see anything I've cracked one of the eggs open (see pictures) could anybody tell us we're we are going wrong these are pictures of our eggs before incubation.
