Its kind of hard to tell from the pics, but my guess is the eggs are not fertile.

My final hatch results are in:

Original set:
3 Blue Orpington
5 Rhode Island Red
4 Red Sex-link x Silkie "just for kicks"

Before Lockdown:
Removed 3 Infertile Blue Orpingtons and 1 Infertile RIR
Tossed 1 RSL x Silkie Blood ringed egg

Locked down:
4 RIR's and 3 RSL x Silkie

Hatched:
3 RSLxSilkie (1 sticky chick had to assist)
2 RIR (1 sticky chick had to assist)

Died after lockdown:
2 RIR

5 Chickies hatched out of 12, of which 4 were infertile - My best hatch yet!

Overall percentage: 41% hatch rate
Fertile percentage: 62.5% hatch rate

Question here to prove ignorance :D How did you ID infertile eggs before set?

It doesn't look fertile to me, and without it being fertile it won't make a chick. By day 6 you should see a black dot and ALOT of blood veins.

Hope that helps.

Yes, this is it. She sent me one to give a go, and to give her an idea how it was working while she and her hubby were working on a patent. This thing does not drip. The nipple moves sideways, they chick doesn't push it in, when the chick goes to take a drink, it will move the nipple sideways. No dripping into the brooder, and no poop in the water. :)
Those are two couple of cuties that I hatched a couple of months ago drinking from it. I didn't have the bracket at the time..but just sit it on a board..worked great. She has sent me a bracket since.

Here's wishing the best for those that were hit hard by that storm Northeast and mid west. Stay safe, be extra careful out there if you have to drive, or even just walk. Stay warm! Hoping the poser stays on for you all.

I think it is a rooster / fertility issue. If not the rooster maybe the hens have feathers in the way that you can trim.
