5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

I would love to join this if I can manage to get some eggs at the right time to set for it. My first hatch-a-long was the November duck hatch-a-long and it has been a lot of fun getting to chat with other people all incubating and hatching at the same time. My duckies are due the day after Thanksgiving so the bator will be clear if I can just manage to get some eggs at the right time. Hmm, I just found someone who has Lavender Orps that only lives 30 miles from me. I may see if I can get some of those rather than trying to time the shipping right. Been wanting some of those gorgeous birds anyway.

OOOh, Ducks are so cute when they hatch. Amazingly friendly--they always look so happy.

Yes, and some discounts on pricey eggs. Last year at this time @juststruttin was selling 6 dollar eggs for 3 dollars.

Thanks! Yes, little ducklings are so adorable. Heck even big duckies are still adorable. I love the little head tilt they do when they look at you. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

They are! They are a pale lavender/lilac color all over, and they have that regal, serene look that seems common in orps.

I have a power backup system for power outages. The GQF Genesis 1588 is 12 volt DC based, so they sell adapters to connect their incubator to a 12 volt car battery. I connect a charger to the battery and then the incubator to the battery. If the power goes out I have about 2 days of backup power.






I have used it several time over the past two years.
