Good luck with it. It is easy to use and you get great results! What are you going to hatch?
Well, I am probably shooting myself in the foot, but marans. I really, really want a dark egg layer.

Sadly, I did not win the ameraucana eggs. However, I think it may have been serendipitous, because I have found the SFH eggs I have been wanting very badly for buy it now not auction and the seller is willing to work out the shipping so that they'll reach me probably the 9th (giving me time to let them rest).
So I should have a dozen SFH to set and also a dozen of the Lav Orps. My yard is gonna be so full of PRETTY soon!
Sometimes ignorance is bliss. All I have is a LG and aside from 1 disastrous hatch (the only time I used a turner) I have had great hatches. Usually between 80-100%. I even hatched 8 out of 13 shipped Serama eggs in mine, which is quite a feat. They can be fickle, but I am at home all of the time and available to make necessary adjustments.how do ur hatches go in the little giant? if u still use it.
This is so exciting! I am looking forward to seeing all the beautiful chicks! Everyone is going to post pictures, right?
So, are marans eggs really more difficult than other types? I may have given myself a harder row to hoe than I intended.![]()

Don't get yourself overly worried about it. The shell is tougher, so a little harder for the chicks to zip, but keeping a close eye on them will help. I think they are less porous also. Definitely the dark egg is very hard to see into when candling, but with practice you will eventually train your eye to spot movement. I had luck with mine, and didn't over think it.

Yes, I did & do. Mostly on shipped eggs, too (aside from the 1 hatch, that one was more like 40%, it broke my heart). 11 out of 12 BLRW's from across the country in Washington State was by far the most amazing. I am blessed for sure and pretty positive God has his hand on my little hobby!
