The incubator only has one water well.... maybe some non toxic clay to dam the well in half? Would this hurt the eggs? No water at all!? Would this be okay? I am a little confused now. *sigh*

I don't add water at all for the majority of incubation. I only add a little at hatch time. I have great hatch rates I agree with the person above, adding the eggs in with no water may give you the right humidity. Only one way to find out is to try it and see.

When I am desperate to lower humidity I pop a cup of dry rice in the bator, (works for cell phones dropped in toilet too).

MStricer: thanks for the heads up on the storm. ...going to check radar shortly, so far just freezing rain. But feeling awesome about getting fresh bedding to the goats, n fresh shavings to the chooks!

I've never heard of a teenager that prepares soup....on their own....for someone other than themselves. None of the teenagers around here are capable of such acts.

See what the humidity is without any water. Also, relax and do not panic. Let it run for at least 24 hours before adjusting things.

Wow! This sounds exciting! I'm new here and I'm thrilled to see these exciting events I can't join this year, but I'll definitely put this on my bucket list next year.

I just got 3 Beautiful Blue Orpingtons as a birthday present (from myself - hahaha)

A rooster and two hens - they are big and beautiful and fluffy and perfect! SO their eggs are first in line to enter the incubator... Red sexlink eggs are second in line now...

I may have found some barnevelder hatching eggs

I'd love to find some campine and vorwerk hatching eggs but they're so hard to find

. Maybe I'll have more luck finding those in the spring.

Like I said before, my daughter raises campines. She doesn't have any eggs right now, but come spring she will. Contact me.

HELP!! I know how to make the humidity higher, how do I make it lower?? I know less water won't help because the water surface is the same, depth doesn't really effect it right?? This is new for me, I have incubated before but with a much bigger bator and my mom's help. So now I need help.

PLEASE.

Somebody else said it already but put something in the water pan that will reduce the surface area. Not clay. Maybe a piece of glass or a nice clean flat rock.

By the way, how can you tell the boys from the girls at this age?

Could you put something like a shot glass in the well to remove some of the surface area? Maybe fill said shot glass with some rice to absorb moisture? You have a bit to go before it's an issue, so play with your incubator till you can get it at the humidity you need!

The issue is the well is only about two fingers wide and less than a 1/2 inch deep and goes in an uninterupted circle all the way around. I have no water in the well right now and the humidity is dropping fast, so I don't think that is going to work so I need to figure something out. Maybe a picture to help explain this? It is just so small there isn't much to do, that is the biggest thing my big bator has so many more options since it is a good size.
Maybe aquarium gravel in the well to displace water!
