My eggs still haven't shipped!! Now she says she may not be able to fill my order......

I just wanted 7 eggs to fill my little bator. *sniffle* I have searched for eggs closer to fill the larger incubator I acquired with no luck, so I know it is useless on that front. I hope this all shakes out.

Congratulations to you on your new layer.

I've decided I need to add a white egg layer to my flock. I now have blue/green eggs, medium brown eggs, light brown eggs, and dark (chocolate) egg layers, just need the white egg layers to complete the color basket.

Barred Hollands or Dorkings lay nice white eggs.

If you get stuck I can possibly send you quail eggs or some breese eggs. I have beautiful marans eggs out the wazoo but Taft the splash orphington has been hanging with Louie the 3 the marans rooster double teaming. So some will be mixed.

Well, if it doesn't rain it pours. Have a medical situation of some urgency coming up. We have to drive 4 hours one way to see the doctor in Seattle on the 10th. I don't know WHEN we'll be back home -- might be late the 11th, might not be till the 12th. The neighbor kids are fine to trust to make sure the chickens have food and water, but I don't trust them in the house to mess with the incubator. :/

Man do I wish I had a turner now!

Setting a bit early or late is fine! Will make the excitement longer. Eggs will be fine not getting much turning the first 5 days or so.

All four of my hens are laying now! I got four eggs today. Total of seven have been saved up so far for the hatch-a-long.

Awesome!!! Crossing my fingers you get plenty more before Weds!

I am collecting eggs from my SLW and when I candled them, today I noticed that they seem very porous. They have dots everywhere. Is this just how the eggs are or is something wrong? All my hatching eggs will come from them and I just want to make sure they will hatch because I have chickenitis
P.S. I also kind of want to win best hatch!!

I am jealous! I so want to be hatching eggs right now, but I haven't started a flock yet and we are in the middle of a 600 mile move! Hopefully we will have everything up and going in a couple of weeks to be able to get a flock started so there will be eggs in the spring!

It's beginning to look a LOT like Christmas…...




YAY!! All 3 boxes of eggs picked up today, 36 shipped eggs and only 3 loose air cells and 2 detached…feeling pretty lucky. My Genesis 1588 is hanging steady at 97.5 degrees, so a quick read through the manual is in order to figure out how to bring that temp up a smidge is in order. Looks like I got quite a bit of reading to catch up on….

Hey, I just noticed that the one shipper wrote "GLASS" on their box instead of eggs or live embryos, etc. Wonder if the USPS treats "glass" boxes better ??

Why can't Santa fill my tree with some of these just once??? Santa likes you more Blarney!

I'm pretty sure that's how it will go. I told my husband about the butt-fluff trimming suggested on BYC, you know I need someone to hold the chickens for their butt-cut, I got silence. Silence is good, right?

Heh. Half Irish here myself (Dad's parents were from Ireland)...and I have Irish luck alright. If I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck at all! I'm the sort that can set 12 eggs and get 13 cockerels out of it On the upside, I can pinch a dime and get you two nickles and a penny change.
