I read that and now I kinda feel silly buying shipped.eggs.... my neighbors have roosters and so do the people across the street... but I wanted easter eggers and I know they both only have brown egg layers.
...

At least you got what you were looking for. The neighbors will give you what they have.
If you have room, it might be a good idea to get 6 eggs from a neighbor to test your shipped eggs.
That said, last NYD hatch I bought a bunch of shipped eggs, a dozen local eggs, a dozen Whole Foods fertile eggs and set about 40 of my own.
One of the shipped eggs hatched, none of the local farmer eggs hatched, none of the Whole Foods eggs hatched and about 20 of mine hatched.

hmm yeah I'll go over to my neighbors tomorrow to see if they have some fresh eggs to increase my odds. they have some beautiful birds. most of them look like red sex links but they are big and healthy and free range all day long. I guess that would be convenient if I got some red sex links!

See what happens when I step outside to lock up the chickens for a few mins, my chickens make me miss the window of an egg prize. I swear they are determined not to let me have eggs lol. JK though.
