It's about the importance of turning early in the cycle.
If you're sure your air cells are intact, the longest I'd wait to turn the turner on is 1 or 2 days.

The more the merrier!

21 days is gonna feel soooo long!! I have 40 minutes to wait and then it is time to set mine.

That's why my incubators are in the basement. So I don't obsess.
I may be a few minutes late starting.
I still have a lot of chicken chores and incubator stuff to do.

Oh my goodness! Of all the days to have butterfingers!! I cracked one of my shipped FBCMs when I unwrapped it. I glazed over the cracks with super glue. The cracks didn't go through the membrane, so I guess we will see if this little trick works.

I've used beeswax to seal. The egg didn't hatch but that hatch didn't go well overall. I'd try it again.

I haven't used super glue but I know melted candle wax works wonders.

So now Im not sure what to do. I have 32 shipped eggs and 6 of my own. I didn't want to turn the turn on for a few days because of the shipped eggs. But I have no room to lay the other 6 down to manually turn them. I suppose the turner goes on and I hope for the best with the shipped eggs. Unless some one has a tip.

I started the no turn for 7 days on shipped eggs after a few months of no hatches at all from shipped eggs. I followed the guidelines from this article and for over a year now I have had pretty good hatches from shipped eggs. Once I started using the "no turn" method my development rate increased tremendously. With over 100+ chickens now I think I've done pretty darn good using this method.

As for having too many eggs in your turner you will just stack the extra eggs on top of the ones resting in the turner. At day 7 you can candle all the eggs and look for development. Toss the ones that show no sign of development and hopefully there will be enough room for the extra eggs to now fit into the turner.
