5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

Tis the season...Busy, busy today. Headed out to clean the church & church Christmas concert practice. Then back home to get the kiddies off the bus, and back to the school for their Christmas concert. Tonight, a looong night of wrapping, as I haven't even started, and first thing in the morning more shopping

. Needless to say I won't be on much today, if at all! Have a great day folks!!

Good Morning Everyone.
Does anyone ever have chicken play dates?

Nope. And it's probably not a good idea. Chickens tend to need to establish a pecking order in order to get along. I doubt a play date is something a chickens needs or enjoys. Also it is not good biosecurity. Poultry can carry numerous diseases, if another chicken has something yours doesn't your flock will get infected. I would find it unwise to plan a chicken "playdate".

As long as you have a flock of 3 or more your chickens will be happy.

That does sound like a busy day. Good luck with it all. Christmas, though my favorite holiday, is a busy stressful time. Enjoy your kids concert.

Your beat me to this answer!

I have read about too many of us that had to cull all the chickens and start over. How about a local group that meets for coffee to talk to other chicken obsessed owners?

Does he do processing?...if so, send him on over! After searching for just the right piece of land for close to 5 years, my proud husband drove his father out to view the property...my FIL's response.. 'What the hxll ya gonna do with this?' Nice, Pop.

Have fun at the Christmas shows today! My goal is to finish shopping for the kids and their teachers as they will be done school this Friday.

Oh he knows how. But most likely he'd stand around and supervise. And by supervise I mean complain.
