5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

That is the worst way to ship them. It is quite silly to think eggs can drop 6ft. i a box packed that way.

Bubble wrapped tacos, double boxed work the best.
my eggs were wrapped in paper towels, then put in an egg carton, double boxed with both boxes packed with bubble wrap and news paper and all of the fertile eggs developed and i think that only one of the developed ones quit! so right now im at 9/12

I really should have reread and rephrased. It was very late.
If it makes you feel better - you made my day! I was busy throwing a huge tantrum because my husband told me he has to work tomorrow and we need to cancel our New Years Day plans... I went from angry tears to hysterical laughing in about two seconds there! (Luckily we don't have to cancel our plans after all)

That's what I thought, but this person who claimed great success seemed very offended when I said I'd had no luck so far hatching eggs wrapped that way. Maybe the success was in collecting money for something turned worthless by packaging. Don't know.

The Doms were wrapped in paper towel, placed in 1/2 cartons, and the 1/2 cartons were each wrapped with big-bubble bubble wrap, so there was cushion outside the carton but I still don't see how the egg and its air cell can be protected that way. Almost all visible air cells had detached.

Yesterday I received eggs placed in a box with the bottom cushioned with a thick pad of bubble wrap, and bubble wrap on all four sides, eggs were individually wrapped in 3-4 wraps of what looks like pipe insulation, set upright in the box, filled in with packing peanuts, and then topped with another layer of bubble wrap. This is the first time I've gotten eggs wrapped that way, and honestly they were in good shape. 1 was cracked vertically, all the others look perfect, did not detect any detached air cells. I let them rest overnight and set this morning. We shall see!

20 out of the 24 set due at 4 PM on the 1st.
Moved 9 more to the hatcher today that are due the 2nd.
I left 9 due 2nd and 3rd from a different rooster in the incubator.
I hope they are right on time so I'll know my temps were good overall after a bunch of dips and spikes.
So if the 20 hatch you will have an 83% hatch - that's great! Is that about what you usually get? I am so hardly able to wait to see pics of pene babies :)

Pipping! Pipping! Pipping!

Well still nothing for me even after a chirp last night.....buggers are playing hard to get this time I think or they all want to be new years babies.

Have Faith. Mine are being 'shy' also. I was concerned I lost the whole batch after temp check showed under 90 yesterday, not sure for how long.
This morning (before 6 .a.m.) I heard at least two 'talking', they must have gone back for more rest as silence since then and nearly 11 a.m. now.
