I got up this am.. 3 more EE and 2 Chabos,,, One maran has hatched since I have been up ... I had two that where DOA,, Both pipped good. temps and humidity great,, both pipped all the way around but just did not push out,,, both big strong looking,everything had been absorbed,, Should got up in the middle of the night to check,, the looked still moist when we opened them up.. only the strong survive folks,, ONLY the Strong< ALASKAN MOTTO<<<Only the WARM SURVIVE<<<<<Peace,,,

I'm sad to say the baby chick I was hoping for died in the night. But, I feel wonderful at giving it a chance that it otherwise wouldn't have had. I like to learn something from each hatch, and doing what I did last night was something that had scared me far too much to even try in the past. I know I came out of this hatch with more knowledge than I had in previous hatches, and that should be each one of our goals. Learning from our mistakes, trying new things, and perfecting this thing called hatching. In years to come with much diligence, some of us may be the ones giving expert advice in the ranks of Ron, Chicken Canoe, or Sally Sunshine....One can only hope!

I love Polish! Are a couple of those chicks Tolbunt? I need to ad that color eventually! 

Yes two are tolbunt polish. Only one has the prominent "Mohawk". Not sure why the other one doesn't? Thought maybe as it dried the Mohawk would show up but hasn't? Maybe as she gets older? These are my first polish so if anyone has an explanation for the missing Mohawk please tell.

2 hatched out of 14 so far. Im starting to think my temp must have been running a bit low this time around. I hope I have some more hatch today. There is at least one more that is pipped. COME ON CHICKIES!!! I did have a couple of brief humidity drops and a couple of the egg cells looked like saddles so I guess I have to just wait and see

Tolbunt are a project color, so you will get a variety of color patterns and degrees of crest development.

What color Japs(Chabo) did you hatch?

I had nine eggs hatch! They started on the 31st and ran until yesterday afternoon.

We had one big bobble, right at the end, which was really scary. The humidity shot up to 80+%, when 3 chicks hatched at once, with two pipped. I ended up peeling the chicks out of the pipped eggs because it looked like they were drowning! Fluid was bubbling out of the pips, and it looked like they were struggling to breathe. One is sort of weak, the other is not quite right, but they look a bit better today. I have hopes that they will continue to improve.

The other three eggs never moved, never pipped, nothing, so they may have died between lockdown and hatch.

Everyone got moved to the brooder last night after sort of drying off (the humidity refused to come down enough to let them fluff up) and are eating and drinking.

My best hatch in a while. Putting the incubator in my master closet (basically its own room) sure helped. I did a dry incubation (16%) with a wetter lockdown (55%) and non-shipped SFH eggs from my own birds.

My hatch is over . . out of the 12 eggs set, 3 refrigerator eggs didn't grow, 2 refrigerator eggs hatched and the other 6 non refrigerator eggs hatched for a total of 8 chicks. 2 pure, W/BW Ameraucanas and 6 Olive Eggers.

These are the chicks from the last 3 eggs that hatched overnight. Two are a pretty grey blue color. Should be fun to see what color they feather in!

Wow! I'm almost 400 posts behind! I'm going to go back and catch up...but here's my update. 29 chicks hatched since yesterday afternoon. It was crazy and amazing and beautiful...and I'm in love. With the chicks, and hatching.

There are still four left, which I don't think made it. I'll give them the night and reevaluate. But I'd say 29 out of 33 (that went to lock down) is pretty good! Pics tomorrow after I've gotten some good sleep.

I went all the way back to see how yours had done, and I'm so glad!
