These two are Brahmacauna's (EE) They are really cute with their Brahma markings and puffy cheeks!



These two are Mille Fluer Leghorns


These two are Buff Orpington Brahma x's. Should be great, friendly egg layers, or yummy pot fillers.

All said, after I candled the last un-pipped eggs, we had 12 hatch out of 19 that developed. That's a 63% success. Not great but we are still happy with our first hatch We will have to practice A LOT in order to reach 100% hatch

The set day would be March 30th so the Hatch a Long would likely start up the first of March.

Keep an eye out for it!

I did last years Easter Hatch-A-Long but didn't do so well.

did you transfer her over to a broody mom? or an non broody? I want to see how it goes for you....

Actually, I had eggs in the incubator. But I was working extra hours for the holidays and my son was taking care of the hens. He failed to mention that my showgirl was broody. So, it was a surprise that she hatched 3 on new years day.

She has her 3 black silkies chicks. And my frizzle has adopted them cause she curled up with my showgirl. The chicks are under both of them.

And I have 4 (1 silkie and 3 d'uccles ) in the brooder box and 4 still trying to hatch in the incubator.

Still hoping that one is a phoenix.

Ok, they are all cute, but I LOVE that adorable chick in picture # 4 best!

And I just might have to get some eggs from your MFLs!! So pretty! Wouldn't they make beautiful birds if bred to the blue wheaten Ameraucanas for EEs?

Our last one hatched last night, and the total is 28 chicks in our hatcher this time around

unfortunately they tipped the water bottle in the brooder and all got wet. 2 died from chill the rest are fine now that they have had their first bath and are all dried out. We have put them all back into the hatcher (a couple of degrees cooler) for another day to make sure they are properly warmed.

So far out of 31 in lock down I have 13 eggs left to hatch. My set day was the 11th at 10 am EST so I have very late hatchers. So all you that have not seen a pip yet don't give up hope!

18 have hatched
4 more shows internal pipping
9 others not sure of

My partner says she has become a chick widow, I have spent so much time with my chickens since getting them in the spring of last year.


I had to make a bigger brooder for this many chicks.... it's an old speaker box.. will try to make a scree frame for the top tomorrow.



My favorite chick hatched so far. His daddy is a EE.

You can already see his/her poofy little cheeks. Hope it's a girl!

If it isn't effecting her walking and getting food and water leave it be. I might straighten on its own and maybe not, as long as she can walk.

You might try using a dime or nickle taped to the bottom of her foot. A plastic disk might work even better (lighter weight). You could cut it out of an empty milk jug.

I use the blunt end of the pair of tweezers. I just tap lightly until it cracks.
