Rarely one will just to that. It is a failure to thrive and there is not much you can do about it. I would give the chick vitamins but you will likely have to separate it and if it looks like it is suffering you may have to cull.

Poly vi Sol baby drops, a drop on the beak twice a day and feed the chick scrambled eggs once a day. You might be able to jump start growth for it.

OK...I assisted the blue Marans, not this one. No issues with this one at hatch.

This one has always been one of the smallest two, and it has been much less active all along. I'm sad b/c she always lets me pick her up and snuggle with her without running away, more than the others.

AND I LOVE CHIP! they look so much alike, except for the yellow chest feathers! Milkshake's brest feathers are coming out a mottled black and white......splash silkie hen and a Japanese bantam should be neat when he is older.....he is a rooster....im always excited to see cross roos.....especially a silkie jap! im hoping for LOOOOOOONNNGGGG sickle feathers like his dad! (in the picture they were still growing in from his molt)
+ =
(when breeding birds, does the baby take on his mother's feathering color? he has regular feathers like his dad....no silkie feathers though.)

Is chip a male? what breed is he again? do you own his parents? he is very beautiful!

I thought I would share some pictures of my adult flock. =) Here they are, all 4 of them enjoying a dust bath built for 1. LOL They are curtainly enjoying the sun, tonight into tomorrow we are predicted to get 6-8 inches of snow...

They look very happy dust bathing!

I remember the days when I had 6. It seems like a long time ago too.

I remember it came up earlier in the tread but it was so far back... one of my pullets is laying eggs with slight wrinkling that you wouldn't notice unless you were looking for it. What could the cause of this be? The pullet is a Delaware that is much much meatier and heavier than the other Delaware I have that started laying a week earlier.
