5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

Free snow! You load it, you haul it. Please start with the pile behind my car.
You call that snow? lol...I know, any snow at this time of yr. is the pits. I am so ready for spring by the end of Jan..but we have all of Feb. coming. And, it's one of the coldest, and usually wettest month of the year for us. We really haven't gotten much snow this year..we really need it..up on the mountains, because if we don't get it, we are in drought in the summer. This is a desert state. We count on moisture in the mountains in the winter to melt down our way into lakes and dams, and then we count on rain in the spring. Here is a photo after a snow storm her a couple of yrs. back. :)

Thank goodness we now have a snow blower for this stuff.

I decided to give it a go..fall in the snow. 4 yrs ago. Wish I still felt that good. Ha!

My car hasn't moved in over a week. We are back a 1/4 mile long private lane with a hill right before our house. We don't have 4wd. JJ already had the car stuck 3 times. 1 of those timrs it almost went in the creek at the nottom of the hill. I'm put of critter feed * bread. Have a friend going to try to bring critter feef tonight. We will survive without bread...lol

Can't imagine being stuck in the driveway because of snow. No bread in the house?

If we couldn't get out of our driveway because of snow and had no bread in the house... I cant even imagine! Luckily our driveway is flat and all of our neighbors have quads with plows and like to help us out. We put off shoveling just long enough for someone to come plow us out lol

I have been known to bake bread. I buy in bulk so I could make bread as long as there was an oven.

(Note: I started baking 7 loaves of bread a weak when I was 12). We did not buy bread growing up).

You get eggs!   :bow

We don't get enough surprisingly. One lady will buy 7-10 dozen a week..... Hence more hatching for me. I hope these will produce good egg layers also. The roo's are RIR, an EE and a Buff Brahma. I saw on the Ky post someone said they had Jersey Giants they could sell me and I read on Wikipedia that they are good winter layers. Is this true? I am getting 2 eggs per day from these pro reds. Spring, summer and fall every hen lays one per day.

The neighbor plowed but the hill is still an issue for our rear wheel drive car.

My stove is still in storage almost 2 hrs away
