5Wk's EE and Silkie... Roos????

I have not ventured into silies, so I have no guess, but that is a pretty baby!! The EE looks boy to me. At 5 weeks, if it were a girl, would still be yellow, no pink yet. JMHO

I was really hoping all of my older chicks were girls... The first shipment I got from the hatchery 14 out of 25 were DOA... When I got my complete replacement order they not only sent me the 3 roos I ordered... but included 3 EXTRA ROOS! (Plus one of the pullets already looks like the boys at 2 weeks old... yikes...). The males in the second batch were all marked with blue paint... None of the survivors from the first bunch had paint on them (but I never checked the dead ones

)

Also, my first little cochin baby I got with my silkies looks like he's a roo too!!! AHHHH!!!! Cross your fingers that the other 2 (who are only a few weeks old) are girls!

This confirms my suspicions... Men are just a big PITA! (good thing they're cute!)

If you saw my other post you'd remember that I went to a chicken yard sale this weekend... Yeah, I came home with 2 more silkies and 2 turkens... haha!

ANYWAY! I checked the legs of the silkies (who are a little older than mine... so maybe 6-8 weeks?) One had little baby spurs and one didn't. The "boy" is a GORGEOUS little bearded splash and the girl is all black (they were the last 2.. I HAD to get them both!!). I checked my white silkie too (the one pictured above... now named Fluffernutter) and "she" doesn't have any spur nubbies... So I'm hoping she's a girl!!

I have 2 more tiny silkies (one splash and one black) who I haven't checked for nubs... but I think they're still too tiny... Cross your fingers that they are girls too! If not, make me an offer! They are really cute...

I hope the turkens are girls too... they were just so ugly I had to take them home! Haha!! I'm now up to 51 chickens!! AHHH!!!
