I have a 6-7 month old serama pullet who hasnt laid yet. I went into the room shes in, turned the light on and saw her lying down, she was awake, i thought maybe she laid her first egg, cuz she has never slept on the ground since she has a perch. I put some food in her bowl and found this under where she was lying.

Is it the lining of an egg? This is all that was there.
Thanks for any help.

That is a soft shelled egg. Sometimes they lay them as they begin laying for the first time. It also can be a sign of calcium deficiency.

yes. also make sure she's on a layer feed. it is higher in calcium than a grower/finisher.

it's probably more her body is learnign how to make eggs so she's still working it out. Provide her with the oyster shell and keep an eye on her. good luck.

ok, ive been waiting for her to lay so ive been watching her like a hawk, lol. thanks : )

All my girls were on Oyster shells and yet one still had first soft eggs. She actually dropped 2 one night from her roost!

Now I put all the egg shells in a coffee can then sterlize in oven before crushing and mixing into feed for added calcium.
