My daughter will be so annoyed. The ones she always picks the names of because they're her favorite end up being boys. (In this case Granite) though I'm going to be quite disappointed if every faverolles mix I hatched is a boy! What a pain.Olive is definitely male
Hazel I’m 97% sure is male.
Ruby is definitely male.
Willow…pretty sure he’s male.
Flower…98% sure.
And Granite is 101%, definitely a male.
Phew! At least my two ameraucanas that hatched (out of 7 eggs!) ended up being girls. Small victories.Koko Kodiak and Onyx are females.
Which chicks are you talking about?Phew! At least my two ameraucanas that hatched (out of 7 eggs!) ended up being girls. Small victories.
Chickmonk and Koko Kodiak are ameraucanas and both pullets. I originally had 7 blue eggs but only those two hatched. And Onyx is some EE mix in not sure of breed.Which chicks are you talking about?
Oh…sorry, but Chickmonk and Koko are EEs, not Ameraucanas. Their impure patterns, green legs, plus Koko’s lack of the trademark muffs & beard make me certain they are not Ameraucanas. Gorgeous EEs though, who will surely lay gorgeous colors.Chickmonk and Koko Kodiak are ameraucanas and both pullets. I originally had 7 blue eggs but only those two hatched. Yeah it's so hard.... You want to hatch or get chicks and end up with a bunch of boys! I ended up buying 9 laying hens a week or two ago to even out my flock and hopefully actually get some eggs out of this gig! So far I've gotten about 3 eggs a day. Hoping for more once they're all fully settled in.I feel your pain.
I ordered 10 Polish Straight runs from a hatchery. I ended up with
2 Pullets out of 10 chicks.
The odds were against me for sure. Lol
Oh. I really need to stop buying eggs/chicks/chickens from people on Kijiji and trusting that they are telling me the whole truth or actually know what they're talking about.Oh…sorry, but Chickmonk and Koko are EEs, not Ameraucanas. I wish you luck. My girls aren't laying regularly right now, plus I have one that layed a shell less egg that I need to correct. I now have 14 chickens. 7 pullets, not ready to lay and 7 Hens and 3 are regular layers. I knew I would get some cockerels but good grief...8!!!! I never thought. They were very pretty too. But, it's a "girls only" flock here.Yeah it's so hard.... You want to hatch or get chicks and end up with a bunch of boys!
