6 Chicks 7.5 weeks old. 1 roo, 4? pullets, and 1 GLW I'm completely unsure of

Some things work for some roosters and some things dont. The collars are supposed to restrict their ability to extend their neck to crow, but they have spotty at best success. Others will keep them in a short crate at night to prevent crowing in the morning.
If there is a no tolerance policy for any crowing whatsoever, there's probably not much you could do.

Well, one of our other neighbors across the street has a rooster and he's pretty quiet, I can only hear him if I'm outside on the porch in the morning, but the 'no tolerance' policy for crowing would come from my father as opposed to any authority, and maybe our neighbor =P
Pepper's my favourite chicken, and I'd love to be able to keep him<3

He's 8 weeks old now and when do they start crowing? 3-5 months?

So it looks like we'll try out a collar and the crating at night method to see if that works well enough. =) I know that it may not work for every rooster, but hoping that we'll be able to figure out something for ours! He's definitely my favourite bird and keeping him would make me super happy!

My little roo started "practicing" at 3 weeks! It can vary for each rooster. Maybe your dad will have a change of heart. My husband fell in love with ours, and has decided I can keep as many roosters as I want!
Oh wow yeah, Pepper hasn't tried crowing at all as far as I'm aware, but he and the girls were out of the house at like, 3 weeks. So maybe he practices when I'm not there ;)

I'm hoping that Pepper will be more like our neighbor's rooster and not crow throughout the day and not horribly loudly... all roosters are different! And I have no idea what breed our neighbor's roo is. I've never seen their chickens actually

Probably better this way, to prevent cross-contamination :)

It isn't a next-door neighbor that has the chickens either, they live way across the street up on a hill and their chickens are in their backyard. We can definitely hear them when on walks, but they are impressively well kept out of sight!

Anyway, thanks for all the help guys, reassuring me I only have one roo that I'll HOPEFULLY be able to keep!
