6 Ducks and a pond

Getting ready to start building their pond. Looking for suggestions in size and depth.

I will have 3 Pekin and 3 rouen in the run/pond.

This is what I have done so far. I have a hole dug 6feet X 3 Feet by 20inchs deep. I figure I will build a birm around the hole about a foot high and widen the pond to about 10x6 with the deep part being about 3 feet deep and the shallow area about a foot deep.

How are you planning to drain it? I built one with those same dimensions last summer and had to use a water pump to drain it every weekend (gets old). Last fall I built a retaining wall off a small hill, filled it with garel/sand, and put in a plastic pool (like you can get at Lowes). Because it was built out from a hill (elevated from the ground) I was able to install a drain which makes it a whole lot easier to empty. I can send pics if you have questions.

Here are some images (if I'm doing this right) showing how it is built off from a small hillside. You can see the new duck house/tool shed I have just about finished standing next to it. I haven't yet put in the pavers.
