6+ GOLDEN LACED COCHIN (standard) Hatching Eggs ~ Washington State

Quote:
That's true...I usually try to send 8 or so when I ship out 6. That way, there are a few extras, just in case. I've been getting 100% out of these this year. Last year, I got 7 out of 10 I set to hatch. But this year since I lost my flock, I only have a handful of birds now--so my hen to roo ratio is higher than it was before...so the fertility should be higher, too...

They do, but I've never seen any bantams that are as detailed in the coloring as mine hens are...if that makes sense? The roos in particular seem to look more like partridge cochins than golden laced from what I've seen. The bloodlines of mine come from IDEAL, but I bought mine from someone in Oregon last year. She just told me that her originals came from Ideal.

I don't have a roo. That is why I need a fertile egg for her. I will wait until she goes broody again, I suspect that she will, lol.

Here what she looks like. Yours are beautiful by the way.

Thanks, I am trying to get a BR roo and believe I finally got one with my Buff Orpington going broody. I went to the feed store and got two, one hen one roo. Mine died so I needed another for the girls.

Lacy is so gentle and sweet and runs funny. She is so loving after being a mama. But, she got rid of those babies after only 4 weeks!!

She did so well, her first time: she hatched out 3 barred rocks and one blue orpington. These were from Speckled Hen.

Thanks for letting me contact you if she goes broody again. She just may....

Oh, and she came from Ideal as well.

Are yours the same type of temperament?

Ellie

Yeah, I have one roo who is a little more standoffish than the other, but you can still walk right up to them & pick them up & pack them around. They just beat along for the ride, LOL The hens--and the chicks both--will jump up on my knees if I squat down in the coop or the run...they are VERY friendly. But I've never had any go broody on me. I had one Brahma hen that tried to go broody & I took her eggs & she's not been broody since.

I have a new bred in the works and need help with genetics
I imported some blue laced orpington eggs and Ihave some birds now but need more genes to keep growing.

Any ideas?
