As you cook, keep an eye out for the bulls eye. When most of your eggs have one, your rooster is doing his job well, and you can set eggs with more confidence.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that “buff” is a color, not a breed. I can’t tell you for sure if he’s an Orpington or not, but he sure is a pretty bird. He will have no problem covering your 6 hens.

How long do ya need to keep a rooster with your hens for fertile eggs? - I am thinking about borrowing a rooster from a neighbor>

Depending on what you mean by neighbor... if you really are close, sharing the same air space, well then no big deal, but if you are in to bio security, you might consider trading eggs, fertile ones for non fertile ones.
