After coming home tonight and checking on her and doing some more reading today I now believe this is Merks.
She is lame, legs spread out one in back the other to the front and warm to the touch..it was 105 here today and she was outside so not 100 % sure what the warmth is from temp or just heat. She was eating and drinking this morning and very alert, but looks pretty bad right now. Her head is limp and flops when picked up from side to side like she can't control it not like she is dying (I really hope she is gone by morning). Feet will not curl around my finger, will set in a nesting position only if I place her that way then she falls over to her left side feet spread out. Also pooh around her vent area..
I unbandaged her foot and it looks good put antibiotic ointment on it but I doubt that is the issue. I got her and the others back in May she was 3.5 mo and the others were 4.5 mo poultry house said they had been vaccinated. None of the other show any signs of illness but from what I understand I may not be out of the woods yet. I will transition her tomorrow if she is still alive in the morning, as she can't go on like this.
I will scrub the coop best I can, rake out what I can and spray the ground. Best I can do is use bleach unless there is something I can get at tractor supply and hope for the best. I know Merks is highly contagious and more then likely the rest have been exposed via dandra and pooh so just hoping they have built up an immunity by now...maybe when they got vaccinated this one was missed. I don't know where it came from there are no other chickens around we live in town, I am clueless.
My question is if I use bleach the coop, how long do my other 3 hens need to be out of the coop while that drys? Or can they stay in there? Thanks for your help.
Update 719am 8/28/20 This is driving me crazy..she appears fine today other then lame. Feet look good, eyes clear, poop normal. Breathing fine and alert. Just cant bare weight and walk. Butt still dirty need wash it off...
