I'm posting this for my Dad! He adopted one of the "PLC's" (my old neighbors neglected flock), as a young pullet with a broken/crushed leg. Since then, "Calypso" has lived inside my Dad's house in a special cage (made so she can easily move from food/water, to perch, to nest box), and been his almost constant companion. ♥️
He sent me this picture today, and said her poop has been runny like this for some time but with no other symptoms.
Her bedding is chopped straw and newspaper, her diet is an organic layer crumble since she began laying recently, and a variety of kitchen goodies plus outside time each day.
My first thought was coccidiosis, but she ate medicated feed until she started laying. 🤔
@Eggcessive @azygous @my brain is not working right now! 🤦🏻‍♀️ And other eggsperts! Any ideas..?

How old is the young chicken? Sometimes we will see bright blue green droppings in chickens who have been fed red cabbage or blueberries. But the dropping looks tannish with blue liquid. I haven’t seen that before. The runny poop could be coccidiosis, worms, or other things. Is the crop empty, full, puffy soft, doughy, or firm? Is she hungry and eating/drinking today? Is she acting lethargic, or standing hunched or puffed up? The best thing for her to eat is a balanced chicken feed. Is she on grower or layer?

Okay, apparently the color is whitish not blue.
Dad said:
"Eating/drinking is normal, the crop seems normal, she's as alert and talkative as ever, the only problem is the extremely runny poop."

I'm thinking parasites...? 🤔
She's approximately 7 months old, and she has 24-7 access to good quality layer crumbles, as well as clean water.
One thing that is bugging me, my dad doesn't provide her with grit inside her cage. He believes she gets enough when he takes her in the yard each day?

Probiotics can be helpful with diarrhea. Probios is a brand name from Tractor Supply, that can be put into the water, and there are generics as well. You can also feed a little cooked plain rice and add some buttermilk a time or two, to see if that helps. Some use plain unsweetend yogurt as well. If you want to treat for most chicken worms, you can use Valbazen 0.5 ml given orally, and repeated in 10 days. SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer is another that may be used. Dosage is 0.25 ml per pound given orally once a day for 5 days. Some vets may do a fecal float to look for worms and what types, but many will not.
