My 6 month old Easter egger has been laying eggs regularly for about 3 months. Earlier this week, I found an egg without a shell, I don’t know which hen did this. For the last 2 days, this hen is acting broody and won’t lay or get off the nest. Is it possible for such a young hen to get broody? Or should I be worried that she has an egg stuck?

Yes, it is possible for a pullet this age to go broody.

What other signs is she exhibiting? Does she screech or puff up when you reach into the nest box to grab her? Does she peck at or bite your hand if you reach under her? Does she 'cluck cluck cluck' with her tail spread out like a turkey when off the nest? These are all signs of a broody.

If she is eggbound she will more likely act stressed and stand kind of like she is uncomfortable. A broody hen will act territorial of the nest and flatten herself to cover the eggs (even if there aren’t any) and growl if you try to touch her. How is your hen acting?
