6 month old Broody hatching First time Journal

My broody hen hatched 9 chicks out of 9 eggs she was sitting on, on September 5th, they are doing great, she is a very protective mother, i have them in a separate broody box and i will let them out to free range later today when the temp rises, love watching them learn to fend for themselves.

Good question, I forgot that news... these videos were taken on the first day of hatch. Rambita sat on the eggs for 2 more days, then kicked them out of the nest and became full time mommy

We opened the eggs and although they didn't smell they were looking rotten,old with some blood so they never developed properly. They were my buffs last eggs before they went into molt so I guess they weren't strong which I was afraid of at first.

That makes sense. Yeah, they probably weren't put together properly. Either that or the embryos lacked the proper nutrients necessary to develop properly.
