6 month old Marian hen

Thought sh was broody as has been laying in nestbox. Then took out the straw. So out with other chickens today. Opening mouth. Eyes closed sometimes. Put he rear end in warm water in case egg bound. What else?

Gave her water by dipping her beak in. She is swallowing. Ate some feed from my hand. How to tell if egg bound?

How is your hen?

Is she lethargic?

Try to encourage her to drink some water, if you have them, add some poultry vitamins. Dehydration can come quickly.
If you think she is egg bound, soaking her in a warm epsom salts bath or placing her in a steamy bathroom may help. You can gently insert a lubricated finger about 1" to see if you feel an egg. Offer her some calcium (Tums,liquid calcium) and see how it goes.
