Oh, wow. I was flipping out this afternoon while holding our 6 week old pullets. They are missing a lot of neck feathers. You don't notice the featherless neck unless you pull back the long outer growth back. These girls (and I am pretty sure a Roo) act like I am their momma. I sit with them a couple of times a day and have them on my boots, lap, arms, and shoulders, draw the line at head roosting. Thank you for the info, never knew a juvenile molts. I am SO new to chickens.This is about the age chicks have their first juvenile molt. You should see tiny chick feathers appearing on the ground. New feather will be pushing their way through as tiny pin feathers. Look carefully and you will probably see them.
