6-week old Black Australorp

Here she is at 16 weeks. The wattles have stayed the same size, and the comb color remains the same too.

I’m glad I was correct. It’s really tough to gauge gender based off comb and wattles on a BA. I had a feeling your girl was going to end up with a large comb and obviously she has one. One of mine has a big comb like yours and she is also
my boss hen out of 15 chickens of 5 different breeds. She is always watching out for the flock and is the first to alert if anything looks suspicious. She keeps everyone in line and is good about breaking up scuffles. I have another that is my designated broody and she is a great mom and also lays the biggest eggs of all my chickens. I have gotten many from her over 90
grams before. I have heard they help prevent hawk attacks since they look like big crows to the hawks. I have seen hawks several times a week and so far haven’t lost any to them yet. They are easily my best chickens and I will always have a few in my flock going forward.
