6 week old Buff Orpingtons Shaking head, tails down ((Video))

Im not sure whats going on in my coop. Last year I had not problems, but this year has been nothing but issues!

I have 5 buff orpington chicks, all at the age of 6 weeks old. They seem small for their age, shake their heads a lot and have their tails down. If I go near the cage, they perk up and will come see me and peck at my wedding ring and my shoes, but if I am not in eye sight they hunch up, tails down and shake their heads constantly. I even observed one with its head going spastic.

I have had them on tetracycline before, but Im wondering if i should put them on it again. I really dont want to lose these birds.

They are on medicated feed and are not from a hatchery.

How long has this been going on for? Look for symptoms of Coccidiosis,medicated feed does not prevent an overload of Cocci. Some symptoms of Cocci are runny/watery poop(may or may not contain blood)fluffed feathers,lethargic,not eating/drinking properly. Cocci is a parasitic infection of the intestinal tract,spread by droppings which get into feed/water via droppings. Very common for chicks to have an overload,most birds have some cocci in their intestines,sometimes they just have an overload and need medication to bring it under control. Medicating for cocci will not harm them,but not medicating(if they have cocci)may kill them. If symptoms match,purchase Corid(amprolium). Dosage for Corid 20% powder is 1/2 tsp per gallon of water,dosage for Corid 9.6% liquid is 2 tsp per gallon of water. Treat all chicks for 5 days,do not give vitamins during treatment(interferes with medication)give vitamins after.

I have some amprolium liquid. I used it before on some other birds. It was 5cc per 1/2 gallon. Im not sure how much to use on these birds since they are much smaller and dont drink anywhere near 1/2 gallon of water.

Same dose or cut dose in half again and make a smaller amount.

Ive got aprolium in the water, but they are still droopy. I gave them a wet mash, I force fed the 2 worst who seem to not be eating at all. They are so thin. I used a garlic. paprika and milk mash with medicated chick feed. I hope it does the trick to pep them up enough to eat or drink on their own.
