Hi,
I recently ordered two DNA sexed female silkies from an NPIP breeder. I live in Northern California and the breeder is about 4 hours away in Southern California.
I thought since it’s a short drive I’d have the the next day- but no. USPS still is horrible and couldn’t get them here.

they were shipped at 8am Monday morning.

tracking says they’re still enroute from the LA area to the Bay Area. Tracking must be wrong because it’s been at that status for over 18 hours.

assuming they arrive tomorrow- that will put them around around 50-58 hours shipping. All I knowis that there is ‘fruit’ in the box for food and water.

should I be concerned? Weather hasn’t been horrible but these aren’t day old chicks.

I would be concerned. In my past experience, chicks no matter how old always find a way to tip over food or water if not held down by a weight. Also, if there is wet shavings/bedding that might be a breeding ground for parasites and your chicks might get sick so if you have chickens, quarantine your chicks just to be safe.

California post office hubs are known for being horrible for shipping animals through, I'd call the post office, maybe they can find them and you go get them.
