As the title suggests, my silkie has been broody for around five weeks, maybe more, I’ve lost track of time in the midst of my war against nature.
I have tried everything, I’ve taken her out of the coop every morning for three weeks and locked her out, as a result she hopped up onto the coop and started brooding on the small wire run that comes with coops, I’ve put ice cubes under her chest and once they melted she made my rooster lay on the wet nest while she brooded beside him, today my father dunked her in water and when that didn’t seem to phase her he introduced her to his chicken, all that did was upset Clifford the Big Red Rooster.
I have not tried silkie jail with Cordelia as I don’t think it’ll work. No nest no problem! She’ll just brood on wire so I think she’d do the same in a cage.
Seen as she has no egg and doesn’t care wether she has a nest or not, I don’t know how to snap her out of it, I’ve seen people suggesting to buy fertilized eggs but it’s the end of November and there simply aren’t any to be got and I also don’t want any chicks this time of year. What should I do?
