Hi! I have two silkies. White one is 6 weeks- dark one is almost 5 weeks. I’m thinking the white one is a cockerel but these are my first chickens so I could be wrong? I ordered two feather dna gender kits, gonna do them this week. But what do y’all think???

The white one is a cockerel and the dark one has a pretty high chance of being a cockerel as well because of their combs being that big for 5-6 week old silkies.

Here’s three more photos! I feel like the white is screaaaaming cockerel to me now. Black one I’m still a little unsure but the way it holds it’s body seems like it stands like a pullet (the boat like posture vs upright positioning I read about)

White one is also being such an alpha the last few days- jumping at the little one and being so crazy. I read it’s just how they play. No plucking feathers or pecking excessively, but is there ever an instance where you have a silkie like my white one and it turns out being a hen??? Or I guess, is there a point where even if the comb looks one way or another, it can still be a hen? I get my gender test back on Tuesday or Wednesday I think, so I’ll share the results here!

I have definitely had some playful hens but at the time I didn't know that they were females so yes both boys and girls can be playful. The white one is almost definitely a cockerel and I'm still learning towards the black one being a cockerel too but I can't wait to see the results!
