6 week olds and soon to be layers togeather what if

:cdokay I have some 6 weeks in with some older chicken everything is going good but in a few week the older ones will be eating layer food and the younger ones will still need grower will it hurt them if they eat the wrong food?

I don't like to let any of my younger ones start eating layer feed until they are at least 17 weeks old... and then I still mix in some grower.

For a short time you could keep the older ones on grower feed and make sure they have free choice calcium. I think the calcium is the main difference between grower and layer. Then when they get close to 20 weeks they could all have the layer. Good Luck
