I have a silkie chick that’s about 6 weeks old, I know it’s awfully soon to guess their gender but I am hopeful there may be an expert out there. We have two wyandottes as well and they were sexed as hens when we got them but of course the silkie was part of a straight run. The comb is the most concerning for me that it may be a cockerel. Personality traits that have me leaning towards pullet is that she/he stays close to the other chicks, doesn’t run off without them when free ranging, seems to sit low to the ground and is skittish.
Any thoughts?

I think maybe pullet, I’m starting to look more into being able to tell based off their combs ridges so either that ones too young or ridge sexing doesn’t always work… mine i got at about 6-ish weeks and the breeder successfully sexed them all, two hens and one rooster, I think roosters have two ridges?

Here’s the development of my silkie roo

It's difficult to say...
I'm also gonna have to go with cockerel though. The comb looks pretty wide and a bit raised. My rooster Cloud (now 22 weeks old and crows every morning) had a similar comb when he was 6 weeks old. I don't know if it'll help, but you can compare the similarities and differences. I also included 2 of my pullets for reference.
At the end of the day every bird has a slightly different comb based on their genetics and each mature at diffrent rates - some sooner, some take longer. Maybe unless they come from very good lines.

I'm still pretty new to silkies (I have about over a year of experience), so please correct me if I'm wrong on any information.
