6 weeks old *WARNING* may contain REAL poultry! *PICS*

farmgirlie, my guinea hasn't started laying yet either. i'm a little south of you but not by much. i kinda messed up last year and sold a bunch of guineas before i could determine sex and ended up with 5 males and one female.

I have 3 males and 2 females. I haven't found a single guinea egg yet but I don't think they have started laying yet because of the weather. They were born June of last year so they might be a bit young also. I was told they don't lay until they are almost a year old. What puzzles me is that one of the females wants to sit on eggs even though she hasn't laid any eggs yet. I keep finding her on chicken eggs or over pestering my broody hen trying to take her clutch of chicken eggs away from her. I'm thinking of letting her have a few chicken eggs if she will stay on the nest.

my guineas last year started laying in the chicken house. i have had a few eggs this year that i thought were guinea eggs until i cracked them. it seems that every year i forget exactly what a guinea egg looks like until i see one and then remember how obvious it is.

Angelwing isn't the ducks name, it's the name of a disease/deformity that ducks can get if they are fed too much protein when they are young. It makes the wings grow kind of upward/outward/away from the body.

It does sound like kind of a sweet and cute name to call a medical condition, though!

Edited to add: I don't know if the duck in the pic has the beginnings of angelwing or not. I only have 3 ducks so far and have not had to deal with this yet, far from an expert! Would love to hear some of the duck people chime in, though, because I'd like to know what it does look like.

If Junna does end up having Anglewing, can she still go in with the other ducks, and be allowed to have bebe's?? our should I not hatch any of her eggs?
