6 Weeks - Weird Chicken Toes

Hi - this chick has never had a long 3rd toe on either foot and now the look shorter than ever and the nails point up on one and have disappeared on the other. What is this??

I'm not sure exactly what that is - I can only guess that it may be a genetic deformity.

The toenail that points upward may need to be trimmed occasionally, if it bothers the chick or hinders it from walking. I don't really see any type of swelling.
