We have 25 eggs with babies growing![]()
LOL!! Is it just me or are these fines getting steeper?$100 fine and 15 push ups
The smelling will only tell you if you've got an egg going rotten, not if there is anything growing or not. I'm not sure at what point the water candling would be effective. So, if it looks clear at 7 days should i take it out and throw it away now or wait?
I keep smelling my eggs cause some of them are dark. Glad no one has seen me sniffing my eggs! When does water candling work? That seems like it would work better than my nose.
Thanks for the link!http://kigurumi-shop.com/Chicken-Kigurumi.aspx this is where they come from. There are tons of different ones! Ive seen a black chicken as a promo on amazon as well! They are the most comfyiest!
Ok no problemo! Ill try and upload one![]()
I had 2 in my last hatch that did that. Looked like blood rings at day 7 but were weird, so I left em in. One developed and hatched and one developed until about day 9 and then quit. No, wait for day 10 to 14 and only toss them if they are eggs you can see into. Dark shelled eggs stay in unless the smell bad.
Yes! Sometimes eggs that look like they have a blood ring will be good a couple of days later.
i will not candle....until day 18 1/2..then i will take out the bad eggs and the tumble turd beetles (redneck egg turners)
That looks perfect!
Oooo. That sounds like one I must look into.
Nice!I'm not going to candle,
I'm not going to candle,
I'm not going to candle,
Who am I kidding, 7/7 in the incubator showing signs of development.
That's great!Sooo I candled them all...aaaannd....ALL of them show good veins and what I hope are good sized air cells!!!!![]()
First time hatcher, so far so good!![]()

Happy Birthday! (belated)
Don't count em out till at least day 10. Sometimes they are slow to get started.I think I might be in the running for worst hatch rate. 3 with veins 4 questionable and seems at this time 17 clears. I think I need to talk with Rocky (aka roo)!!! My buff eggs seem to all be clear. Rocky tends them but I'm wondering if they are still to young? They started laying the end of July beginning of August. My past 3 hatches almost all the eggs were fertile. Not sure if something is up with Rocky. Maybe because 15 hens are too much for him? He tends them all but by my candling says different.
Bagel lion? I've been trying and trying, but I cannot figure out how much a bagel lion is....LOVE this!! What beautiful birds. Yes, I know I'm about a bagel lion posts behind.
I am currently hiding from the grand kids trying to catch up on these posts..... I'm really not that good if a hider.
Awww. If it is on them bad, you could try brushing them off or even carefully washing them. When I was out tending to my chickens this morn, the broody jumped off her nest and to my sad eyes I saw she has pooped on her eggs![]()
I really hope it doesn't affect them. Fingers crossed bacteria doesn't enter the eggs and make the chicks die![]()
Candle all the goats too
Woohoo! If I had candled them, I would have found that about 15 of 24 are already showing veins...I would have been very excited....![]()
Sorry you've been sick. I hope you get better soon.I have the flu. I've gotten WAY behind over the last few days. Right now I'm "only" 16 pages behind... perhaps I can catch up before candling tonight!
On the bright side, I haven't been at all tempted to candle early, lol.
Those pita pinta chicks are GORGEOUS!
Congratulations!!The winner of the number of eggs set contest is:
@michaelf with a guess of 2247.
2360 eggs were reported as being set for the hatch a long.
Official candle results are.. 100% fertility for the young man!Tossed only two quitters (blood rings, very obvious) and shuffled the others in the tray. 14 developing nicely as far as I can tell..![]()
Now they are all cooling. Never done this.. It IS for two hours, right!?
Yes, two hours for chicken eggs had the best results.
super cute! Thanks!
