Hatched 6weeks ago. A mixed bunch. The frizzle is a boy I think. The others I am not so sure? Any ideas? I only managed to get pics of these.

1. Boy Frizzle

2. Girl?

3. Girl? Polish I think? I will have to wait to see if streamers come out but so far top knot is round and fluffy

4. Girl? Or maybe boy? I have only experience with red single comb chicks from the past. These black combs (pea?) stump me

5. The hardest one to sex. I think this is a silkie (from the feathers and 5 toes and black skin). It’s the sweetest calmest thing. Fingers crossed it’s a girl. But it is the biggest chick of the lot (I can’t work out if it’s because of the feathers being poofy or because it is just big - which sadly does seem to indicate that it’s a boy)

Still very early 1 defo a cockrel others dont shout out boy i would give it a few more weeks observe their behaviour and ask again i was so lucky i hatched 4 silkie mixes in june and all 4 are gals one ur silkies looks like mine a bit heres my terrors they 23 weeks now xx beautiful birds by the way i love frizzles 🥰🥰

O they are gorgeous - lucky you :). Yes the fluff ball silkie (#5) is my favourite and I really hope it’s a girl. The Polish chicks (I only managed to take a pic of one of them) are loud (they cheep loudly all the time). The full silkie is the calmest and gentlest of the bunch. I think even though it’s the biggest chick it’s the lowest in the pecking order. It’s always last to make it‘s way out of the coop. So I have a real soft spot for it. The other 2 with black beaks (chick 2 and 4) are also calm. The others are rather more neurotic.

Update - they are now nearly 8 weeks old

1. Frizzle is definitely a boy. The one beside it is likely a girl (whew, I think so far 2 girls out of 8).

2. Which I was hoping was a girl...well. At 6weeks

This is today (7.5weeks) - so looking more like a boy?

3. The Polish - there are 2 of them. I think still too early. But the top knots are filling out so will wait some more

4. I am not sure about this one. Has black skin and no waddles yet (not distinct anyway).
