6yr old silkie can’t walk on one leg! Advice please

You could give aspirin, and a vet could prescribe meloxicam for pain and inflammation. Aspirin dosage for a silkie is 1/4 to 1/2 tablet of 81 mg low dose given orally twice a day for up to 3 days. Making some wet mash with her feed and water in a small bowl daily, could get some water into her. If she will eat scrambled egg or tuna, just sprinkle with more water. Hold a small cup of water up to her beak. If you notice in some pictures of the chicken slings, some have placed food and water into small containers and attached them in front of the chickens.

They gave her a shot, for inflammation. Two vets checked her out and they suspect a nerve injury. They said the shot will hopefully allow some mobility to her leg in a few days, but nerve injuries are more complicated. They don’t always heal and her circulation was not to great. If the shot doesn’t work, they advised we bring her back to make that end of life choice. I’m hoping she feels better. Thankful they didn’t suspect mareks as that was freaking me out. I will order some vaccines for my 3 chicks that we hatched who are not vaccinated. They said just to contain her to the box and me putting her in the coop at night is fine.

she was very alert and they said with her alertness, it was worth trying to shot out. But her one leg, there is no reaction to sensation. So I’m hoping for the best. She just flaps around, but has no mobility.

A little improvement, she’s trying to hold her body upright 🙂 she still can’t walk , she wants to very badly. She even whimpers a little. She is able to lift her bottom a little up, that’s all. I can at least bend her toes (they won’t stay) , but her muscles feel looser and not as stiff.

I just never knew about nerve injuries, happening like this.
