Due to the random chicken craze it took me a bit longer to get the breeds I wanted so there is a 4 week difference between the first 4 and the second flock of 5. They are 7 and 3 weeks now and in separate brooders. They can hear but not see each other. Trying to figure out the best and easiest way to cohabitate them. I’m happy to keep the older ones in the brooder at night (they currently go out during the day when it is sunny)until the younger are ready to go outside full time but not sure if that will even matter. There are no older resident chickens if that matters. And I don’t think there is a way to separate and area for the younger gals.

the 7 week olds are black copper maran, blue copper maran, blue laced red Wyandotte and Salmon Faverolle

the 3 week olds are 2 Easter Eggers, black copper maran, welsummer and buff Orpington

I have, after advice from here, introduced my (now) 6week (leghorn) and 2,5 week (serama & cemani) olds last monday for the first time.
They were in seperate cages with sound&sight, and I 'just' let them out together for playtime with some snacks. The first two days the older ones had a few moments where they chased the lil ones a bit, and a few pecks at the cemani's toes (who just started mingling with them from the start), as of yesterday (3rd day), there's been no pecking or chasing at all. Only when one of the little ones is seperated, the big ones still show some above-average interest, but it went very well here

I am following this thread because I too have a similar situation! Temperature is a factor for me. It’s been too chilly at night for my 4 week old chicks to be outside, but my 7 week old chicks outgrew their brooder box and are in the coop already! I give the 4 week old chicks time in the coop with the big girls during the day, but one of the alpha hens picks on them! Do I keep them together and hope they learn to get along? What’s the best way to manage this?

I saw in another post you trying to guess the sex of your black copper Maran. Did it end up a pullet or a roo?
It seems to be a pullet as far as I can tell. They are 10 weeks old now. I had gotten another one that is 6 weeks old and same comb developed early so I think it’s just the breed!
