You will have to learn the hard way as have many others that wouldnt listen to others peoples advice about keeping chickens healthy.

Of course this is a big assumption that I have no knowledge on how to care for my animals or on how to control pest problems or that I am not listening or even that YOU are better at caring for chickens than I. I do not question YOUR ability to care for your animals. I have not suggested anything unsafe or unprofessional. I have provided information on a subject that I am familiar with. Why is that so egregious to folks? I am aware of unintended effects of chemicals used in such a way that they are not intended. If you as a respected member of this forum give advice to another reader, that reader weighs that advice based on their opinion of you. I have given my opinion and provided data for the reader to see and evaluate if a particular course of action fits their situation. I have not misled anyone, I have not condemned anyone's advice, I have only offered my thoughts and opinions. Forgive me if I have stepped on anyone's toes, it was not my intention.​

Why is everyone being so nasty to each other? Someone's chickens are sick and all of you can't stop arguing.. Goodness, please calm down.

To the OP: When I got my rooster from another person, he had mites. I used Permethrin on him, and DE. DE (from what I've heard) is a preventative whereas the Permethrin is a treatment. So I dusted him the first time, then ten days later, then ten days later after that. (Three times total) I dusted his living area too. I sprinkled (sparsely) DE around so that once the Permethrin had done its job, those stupid bugs wouldn't come back. Good luck!

Edited- I should add that the rooster is perfectly healthy now and I haven't had a problem since (with mites I mean)

Where does a person go to get Permethrin? I suspect one of my chickens might at mites. This is the first disease my chickens have ever had and I do not know where to get medication like this. Thanks.
