Kathy,
So I can dust Paisley the peahen with this stuff to help rid her of any lice/mites?
Or should I just put some down and let her do it herself (granted she's even willing to do so).
Do I need to mix it with anything?
I know she's just aching to bathe but I've been afraid to let her outside since she's been so sick....
Thanks!

Does she have and lice or mites? Can you catch her if you let her loose? If you can catch her easily, it might do her some good to go outside for a few hours, just keep an eye on her.

I'm not too sure if she has lice/mites or not but she keeps shaking her head and wiping her beak on the floor....more so than normal. In fact, that's the behavior that's keeping her from eating. Every time she tries to eat something she stops to shake and wipe....some times several times in a row.
Paisley follows me around like a little puppy. No need to catch her because she doesn't like to leave my line of sight. If I leave her, she starts to honk and stands by the front door waiting for me to let her in. She thinks she's people :)

Have checked her nose, beak, and swabbed her throat and can't find anything.
No visible mucus/discharge.
How do I check her ears?

Just pull the feathers back and look inside. Often I will see tiny lice crawling in their ears. And when I say tiny, I mean so much smaller than the usual feather lice.

But if they're there, I should be able to see them....without a magnifying glass?
I can't see them without my reading glasses.
