Hey folks,

We have a beautiful good boy up for adoption. He is an 7 month old barred rock named Meegosh. My son hatched him at school as part of a 4H project and he has been a great rooster but unfortunately our neighbors reported a noise complaint against us. My son is crushed that we have to give away his beloved pet and friend. This rooster is good with kids and hens. Just a warning, he is excellent at begging and will use his charm on you I am sure. We are located in Charleston, SC and are willing to drive him to a new home where he can live his rooster best life.

My goodness, he is a beautiful boy. The rooster, I mean - LOL - but your son is, too, I'm sure! I wish you the best of luck finding him a home. If you don't know already, roosters have an awful time finding new homes. Everyone who hatches eggs gets about half +/- cockerels in the batch, and no one wants extra roosters - from city ordinances, to complaining neighbors, to too many boys in the flock who fight, or roosters who attack their caretakers.....
My best suggestion is to locate a few hens or pullets to go with him, and advertise them as a starter flock for someone who doesn't have to fight ordinances. I've rehomed two roosters with pullets to folks who'd lost their flocks to predators or disease.
Some areas have livestock rescue groups, who might take in a rooster.
Besides that, your best option is probably a poultry auction (where he'll probably become somebody's chicken and noodle soup).
Good luck.
