Is my barred rock rooster a hen?

Okay, looking through our registration options, we only have 2 choices: "dual purpose" or "market". These are the "per county" shows, not the larger shows, so perhaps that's why the smaller categories choices.

Our county leader suggested the silver laced in market, the australop in market and the barred rock in dual purpose. I am fairly sure the silver laced should go into dual purpose, though, not market, as they are meat birds?

The show is in the beginning of September so the Australop (currently 13 weeks) will be about 20 weeks come the show. I'm thinking she may be more mature by then?

We don't sell our birds, either - I think my daughter would run off with her birds hidden in her shirt 😆😆

It depends on the 4-H leader but I’ve known some with very little knowledge. All the breeds you have are dual-purpose and none are primarily for meat. Unless market means eggs or meat??? Either way, all your birds are dual-purpose, not specialized like a Cornish or a Leghorn. In 20 weeks, I think that will be enough time for the Australorp to mature! I was assuming it was coming right up :)
