I hatched out 2 hens 7 months ago, one of them is blind, so i don't expect much out of her lol..but the other is perfectly healthy, but hasn't layed a single egg yet. They have been on laying crumbles since they were 4 months old... she has access to crushed oyster shell...

I hate to say it..but she needs to start earning her keep! Any clue on why she hasnt started yet?? She is a Buff OrpingtonXEE

Don't get discouraged. I just got my first egg from a blue andalusian today. 7 months 10 days after hatching.

Alot of it depends on what kind of birds they are some birds dont start laying till a year old it is all according to the breed some take longer to mature

My buff orps that I got just had started laying when I bought them and they were about 7 mos old. Give it some more time, I'm sure it will be soon

Don't be surprised when you start getting eggs from your blind hen. Being blind in no way affects their egg laying ability. I made a special nest box on the floor of the coop for my half blind hen, but no she decided to use the regular elevated nest boxes like her sisters. She's one of my best layers.
My first hen to lay did so just short of 5 months, my last two to lay were over nine months old; all the same breed. They are very much individuals.
